Improvisation & Melody-Writing for String Players

1-Hour Lessons (Online). All string players, all levels welcome. Lessons are taught by Hannah Rose Nicholas - Violist, Vocalist and Songwriter. In addition to her performing career, Hannah has been teaching for the past 7 years. She is the viola and songwriting instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, and maintains a private studio in Philadelphia and online.

Lessons are a combo of playing, listening, and writing.
At the start of every workshop, we will do an improv exercise on our instruments.

Artist Bio: Hannah is the Principal Violist of the PA Ballet, Substitute Violist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a frequent player with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra. She is also a songwriter and improviser, performing her own music as well as collaborating with classical, jazz and folk musicians all over the world. She is both the songwriting and viola instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, and she maintains a private teaching studio. Hannah is an alum of the New World Symphony and the Lucerne Festival Academy. She received her Masters in Music from New England Conservatory studying with Kim Kashkashian, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. For more info, visit:
